Visiting Europe has always been a great dream of mine, and now here I am living every moment of it. The wonderful journey began with a nightmare ride battling through the Bangalore traffic to reach airport on time. Our connecting Turkish Airlines was departing from International terminal(Mumbai) at 0525, we were soon at the international terminal starting our long wait. Two hungry souls and lots of shops around, we decided to barge into a nearby CCD (I guess) just to realize how costly a burger and sandwich is, the same stuff outside in Andheri would be less than quarter of it. Well that's how it is, we got that as well as some sweets for our in-charge at the university. After getting the boarding passes, we proceeded to "Immigration & Customs". During the wait in the queue I saw one of the officers torturing a Chinese guy with lots of questions "Do you know anyone in Colaba?", "Do you know Gateway of India?", "Did you visit Taj Hotel?" and so on. The poor man could hardly speak any English. Why would he know anything or anyone in Colaba, the man probably came for some official stuff for a day or two. Is this the way you treat foreigners, that man probably is never returning to India. I understand national security and all, but one should always be courteous to others, well disgusting it was. This was just followed by another long queue at security check, and yet again an American just started telling "Is this how such a busy airport should work? I have seen the JFK, NY, Heathrow's of the world.."
Well, these are all not to just meant to say India is bad, but if we can bit more efficient, friendly and take care of people, then they would love to visit us again and again. It feels really good if generally people treat you well in a foreign country and not just look at them and start thinking on how all we can annoy and cheat them. We claim so much about our tradition and culture(Oh Yeah!!), then why can't we showcase it in a good way to people visiting us. Imagine such horrible incidents in airports where educated and people in service industry are doing this, also harassment of all kinds taking place in Goa, and there are so many incidents of cheating just because they are ignorant. Personally I have seen shopkeepers charging twice or thrice the price just because the customer is from a foreign country, auto fellows rob them of their money. "Ignorance is definitely NOT bliss". Yes tourism is a great source of revenue for the country, but this is not the way to do it.
This was a situation I always was aware of back home, we all know about it and live with it. But having spent few days in a foreign country now I know how horrible, in-human, and horrendous our behavior to foreigners have been. It pains a lot now.
Having landed in Copenhagen by 1900 hrs, we had to figure out how to get to Malmo by train. We saw an Information center and headed to enquire, the lady there was so kind enough to explain the way to ticket counter, how much we had to pay, how to get to the platform and which train to take and how much time it would take to get to Malmo Central. It was all followed by "Do you have any other questions?". Hmmmm!! What more do I even need to know :) Clear, comprehensive information. In no time, we found ourselves in Malmo Central. This was just one incident which was followed by so many like taxi ride from Malmo to our hostel, hostel guy, first bus ride to University, lady at Willys store, guy we found roadside for helping us with direction, shopkeeper at the Internet store, wonderful people at the university, even more amazing people at the office. This list will just go on, every other person we have talked to has been so helpful. Then we met Hans Bergstrand, the exchange student who visited India last year. Ofcourse I know as we did work together in Silverfish, but he has been so helpful starting from helping us get bikes and internet and what not. He even suggested us to take his unused TV to our apartment. And our college treated them with a leaky roof, which even crashed onto their heads.! I remember these guys going around for mineral water to store everyday and here the "Coordinator of International Program" and "Professor-in-charge" are making us sit and they are doing our stipend related work and busy getting us library cards.
Its not just about perfect systems in place here, but the human touch people here give with the greeting nature and ready to help attitude makes us wonder HOW????? Our librarian back home, I haven't even seen them ever talking, maybe its because "Silence is golden and blah blah.." or maybe because "Students are not talking material..". I can't imagine that people back home especially at our college think of it as some place out of the world, they should all come here and then probably they will realize how wrong their assumption is. Every person we met at the university is like this, starting from Programme Coordinator to the lady in coffee shop. With such an engaging, positive environment around, that's when innovation takes birth and not limits of download of 10/15 MB even for which one needs to get the rooms opened with a signed treaty (MoU) with security guys (who anyways spend the night sleeping). Is this how innovation and new ideas are gonna take birth, is this how research is done. The open minded nature of people here helps people of different countries, different branches of studies, different course work students to all come together and tackle one's issues. No barriers of project, competition for placements, better grades keep them away.!!
The blog that started off as a general feedback about "Welcoming Guests" has become a university bashing.!! Well, that shows I can narrow down my thoughts to what concerns me most. As my research paper on MDA had said "This is not meant to bash the claims of MDA, but just to do a reality check". Yes, its time for a reality check back home, its time that we look into ourselves and see where are we lacking, its time we retrospect what our core values are.!! I immensely do value my college back home, it truly stands out with other institutions spread across the country. My alma mater(almost) has been my launch pad for sure. I would never be what I am, if not for my home(IIITB), but if we can identify the small flaws, rectify them, add a human touch and combine it with utmost passion - we will become the best!! Students back home have the potential for sure, and no questions even about the faculty(among the world's best). Hope my college shows the way ahead and lead the country by example!!

Twitter Twitter Everywhere, Not a Tweet to Read!!
Hmmmm, why this blog? Random thoughts of mind triggers few amazing discussions. I hope this is going to be an attempt from my end on starting off a good discussion on what people think it will do and what eventually it ends up doing. Confused.? Well thats the whole point
Twitter, a micro blogging platform intended to keep us connected by simply answering the question of "What are you doing?". The modes of communication mainly on the internet platform dint let us communicate very simple things which were of course interesting to a set of users connected to us. And one such very important question was "What are you doing?. Such things couldn't be communicated using emails or phone calls. For e.g. we wouldn't send an email to a friend to tell that "You are enjoying Bangalore climate and having a cup of hot coffee and reading some book". But its an important message to some person who wishes to be connected to your life. Blogs, phone calls, social networking sites all were possible alternatives, but nothing would actually serve this purpose. Our real world and things we do daily mainly happen between emails, and blog posts. We dint have a platform to share. And hence the concept of micro blogging came, twitter was born and 140 char was the best feature to it. Twitter is sweet cos its short. How many of us like to read tweets which span across 2-3 tweets, we just ignore them. The 140 char limit not only provided "just enough information" but also helps in making a decision if we need to know more about it or not and there by solving a huge problem of the internet of "Information Overload". Why do we have abstracts in technical publications, nobody is going to read the whole paper to know what it is about, but a handler like an abstract helps us in drawing lines between what we want to know and what we don't.
The "@" concept was mainly to enrich the power of micro blogging to next level by bringing in collaboration. They dint want to limit it to a one way communication of broadcast of information. Again here the feed wasn't simply populated in the network, people had the choice to follow or not to follow. It acted on the receiving end, emails and phone calls on the other hand works the other way, where the source decides where these information packets are to be send to, which according to me, was a huge success factor of twitter. It was a well thought after concept which had spread like wild fire in the internet jungle. People instantly liked it cos it was simple, addictive and above all acted as "an handler to information". But time and again, historical analogies have proved it that technologies are shaped keeping something in mind, but its the way the society interprets it and uses the technology that it shapes its life. Its not the designer nor the coder who decides how it evolves, but its the user of the technology.
I have been using twitter for almost an year now, I would say I am thoroughly addicted to it and enjoy using it. The concept really impressed me, but ironically the very success factor of it is sowing its seeds of destruction. The purpose is lost, we see a lot many more @ responses which are purely one-to-one basis which again puts the user in an information overload and irrelevant nature increases. I need not know what two people want to communicate on a personal basis, emails and even direct messages on twitter serve that purpose, but again nobody controls on how to use the technology.
These are merely my personal views based on the evolution I witnessed within 1 year of my tweeting experience, though the concept has gone in a unanticipated direction, with the amazing rate of growth twitter is definitely going places and new usage pattern esp in business applications and marketing gimmicks are gonna happen out there. Only time and way the people use it will determine where it goes. Lets wait and see this transformation from micro blogging to public chat client to marketing platform to broadcast of information to God knows what.
P.S - It will be great if you could throw some light on what you feel is wrong in my interpretation or even enrich my point of argument. Then again as Srinath sir says - Attack the idea and not the person [:P]

Endorsements on the Web
Web Information Retrieval is a fairly new science and identifying models and behaviors in Web is still a very much an open question. The amount of active research in the domain of Information Retrieval and effort to analyze data just proves the fact that the hidden semantics in the unstructured network of data, if harnessed properly can lead to amazing results and conclusions. But, this is far easy said than done. The very term "Unstructured Information" can lead to a mathematically exploding count of possibilities of potential problems in analysis.
Last semester's course of Web IR did actually put some light into some issues and motivated us to look into some of them, but the main problem lies with the fact that "we don't know what we don't know" :)
Google is synonyms with search for any internet user now, people don't search anymore they just "Google It". Now what would it take for a company to establish such a branding? So how does it all work after all ? This is itself an open question. Anyways I don't intend this post to be a guide to how search engine works? Probably somebody trying to figure that out will not even land up on this very page. So how does one land on a web page? Is it mere hyper links - which form the structure and edges of the network of WWW. Or is it something way beyond that. The presence of a link to Page B on Page A is not just random, it is being put up on purpose. Now if look deeper, we realize whether it be positive or negative endorsement the occurrence of a link of Page A to Page B, irrespective of nature in a way increases the probability of the user landing on Page B. :) Now if "hits" is the way to identify popularity of a web page, Page B ends up right on top.
This is true and a well established fact. I am sure all people aware of the field of IR would more or less agree with me on this. Incidentally today morning I met my faculty who had taught me the course on Web IR, and a very interesting discussion came up. The endorsement model on a social network like Twitter. Hmmm, so what's the big deal, its again the same underlying concept, that's what I suggested. However he suggested otherwise, he proposed in a model like Twitter the fact whether an endorsement is positive or negative has more relevance. Thinking more, I actually was surprised.
Consider a situation where I receive a tweet from my friend @abc - "What the heck? I can't adjust with anybody in the world". Now if I am re tweeting this, am I actually endorsing him? Probably not, the message has tight coupling with the user and his social image. Now giving away such an endorsement is not going to guarantee any value addition for user @abc. In fact, it would adversely affect the user with a recommendation. Isn't that opposite to our conventional knowledge and assumption. Now that's yet another open question :)
The very thought process that let me motivate to write this blog is the discussion I had today with Mandar. Thanks to him :), he has always been kind enough to share such wonderful insights with me. Now I "knowingly" insert a hyper link to his page. This was not at all random :) Was it?

- DESIRE of enjoyin sleep rather than a much awaited outing.. but
- DESIRE 2 go out still hung within each one (not as strong as initally though).. n hence v all decided 2 go out whn d MAC session gets over.. whch according 2 us wud b around say 6 pm.. 2 hours s more than enuf.....
Ltr during d day, around 3:45, d wonder called "IIIT Mi-Fi" (Wi-Fi in IIIT MH1) allows us 2 finally read a mail whch says d MAC session is @7pm...!!!!!!!! Wel tht again obviously means.. d

1. Time away from OS n Device Drivers
2. Fresh Air
3. Bike Ride
4. Good Food
- All these things made me understand.. none of this can b realised inside IIIT... so inspite of having a class 2mrw morning.. i took d bike keys.. n started........... i got fresh air(whch is like very diff in Bangalore).. d
- DESIRE for it, made me feel so atleast,... for d first time, i felt even Hosur road looked really good inspite of the Maytas Skyway project... sunday early evening also meant it was no traffic....... i had a very nice time riding it... d happiness of having realised a DESIRE..

Recall an SMS??
V all belong to SMS Generation..v send so many messages a given dat.. n in an effort to do it very fast, many a times v send wrong sms to the wrong person..!! Trust me, i have done it so many times..
It doesnt matter in most of d cases, cos u jst finish d story by sending another sms sayin.. "Sorry, that wasn't mean for ya".. but wat if, it was sumthin abt tht person itself.. while composing d msg, u keep thinkin abt tht person abt whom u r riting, n finally whn u select d no.. "What if u select dat person's no itself n click Send".. !! Well that isnt gonna b a very good situation rt.. ?
So check well b4 u click "Send" as u don hav a Recall option thr..!!
Keep messaging...

D Clock Ticks On.!!
well v guys never really realise the significance of time, n how precious it is around d year.. we keep doin this n that.. we even keep sayin.. "oh its so boring out here... have nothin to do to kill time.." n all that...
but thr cums a time whn v do realise... "Examz.." Yeah man.. each n every second matters now.. whether it b 4 last minute rushin thru notes, or if it b for a few minutes of cherished sleep.. it really matters then.. v r havin our mid-term exams from tomoro.. am i excited? am i tensed? am i totally cool.? or confident..? wel its all mixed feelin jst like all d topics whch r totally in a messd up n mixed up form in hard drive of ur brain.. d prev day of exams r nly supposed to b d time whn v shud ideally run a defragmentation of our brain n organise everythn.. so tat the indexing n search operation durin exam takes minimal amt of time.. but unfortunately v never do that.. instead v keep loading so much of data into d disk tht.. most of d times.. "It Crashes".!!
perhaps i indeed am cool, or else y wud i take minutes off my very precious prev exam day time to post a blog.. or am i jst tryin to get in2 my mind n make it realise tht am cool.. or watever..!! it doesnt really matter..!!
as v all hav done in sum point or other of our lives... "I have studied this much, let me do 1 thng, i wil sleep for jst 15 minutes, i wil keep alarm n get up in 15 mints.. i will feel so much better n fresh" .. .ths thought process mite hav gone thru ur mind for sure.. n' for surely u succumb to tat temptation for a sleep for 15 minutes... n by d piegeonhole principle.. atleast 7 out of 10 times.. ur alarm doesnt work man..!!!!!!!! thts it u r done... u r doomed.. those 15 minutes turned out to b 2 hours... n extremely costly... bt atleast u managed to get in time to write exams... inspite of all this..exam wil b cool.. thr s sum very intelligent part of ur brain.. whch works xtremely well during xamz n make u write many stuff u dint hav much idea abt.. all v need to ensure s that v listen well to dat part atleast durin exmz...
i think i hav spit out enuf crap... hopefully i dont spit same kind of crap 4 2mrws examz... he he.. IIIT is rocking man.. u spit out crap.. they very well make ur answer paper more crappier.. all u need 2 write in papers is "D Stuff".. nothin else matters..
let me get back 2 d precious time.... its askin me to take a quick nap for 15 mnts.. but i dont wanna end up sleepin 2 hrs nw...!!!
Sleep or Study????????????????
d quest remains unresolved......................................

Nite Outs @ OS Lab
OS Lab - the place where v hang out most in IIIT. Every day in IIIT is incomplete without spending some significant time here. It mite either be fighting it out with books or cracking problems in devsquare, or at times watching Andaz Apna Apna. We find this place filled with joy n' provides us memorable moments.
We guys make it a point to cum 2 OS Lab every day around 7 pm, after the long sleep after class hours. 7 - 8:15 is jst kind of discussion time, when v guys sit out here n discuss nethin n everythin that matters to us. then our dinner time, we rush off as Guru n Sushy find it very diff to keep their hunger at peace. Then post dinner, post our long walk in campus, we arrive back at our fav place inside OS Lab, jst across d big window, whch is like the gateway 4 fresh air. [:)].. v then start our activities.. whch range from studyin, orkutting, chatting to even downloading movies.. we find the fun part of all of it in OS Lab. V many times get left n right for keepin music at MAX vol, by sum seniors who r tryin hard to break n crack codes. he he..!! not 2 forget our dearest Swaps.. who has his way by downloading almost everythin up there in Utube, using his addons in firefox.
The 1st break after dinner happens arond 12 in the nite, whch wud b for a stroll out to Raju Anna's for a cup of Boost.
"Boost is the secret of My energy" - Guru
"Our Energy" - Swappy
is the punch line, these guys keep repeating like always.. the 4 pointer meanwhile prefers to sit silent n comment only on necessary things.. well jst in case u r wondering who d 4 pointer is.. no need 4 ne apprehensions.. it is Sushy only.. d nly hardworkin guy among d odrwise hardly wrkin group..!! [:)]
In addition to all fun v have in OS Lab, we hav also have had quiet memorable moments with "Paplu" n "Papli"... "the Source of Sound".. "d phone call n walk"... n so on.. all dese r stories to new blogs themselves.. keep waiting for all that.. so d amount of fun v guys hav here is much more than wat v hav in our hostel rooms.. our wonderful sessions always hav frequent glorious moments when Sanky makes guest apperance for "Chitrakavya" meetin or else 2 invite us for the maggi he mite hav prepared for us.. he a quite awesome man.. a very helpful n nice guy n above all "d cutest" guy as all girls knw him better..
A new addition 2 our group in OS Lab is "i kn nothin"... the laughin machine.. OMG..!! u shud see how she keeps laughin all d time.. for nethin n everythn under d sun.. n also the algo machine.. !!
I am sure few years down d lane, much more than the pressure of studies, exams.. these r the stuff that v all r gonna keep thinkin abt always..!!
May the life @ OS Lab go on n on.!!!!

Destiny
Well.. life is always so strange.. it def puts u in d most difficult positions most of d times, n the probs it poses r very diff to solve, (wud b better knwn as of "NP - Hard") in d language of a sw guy.. I was faced wid such an Np - Hard problem sum days back...
I jst like most of us have always been in situations in whch i keep on sayin that "why god, why me.? " and also lik.. "y dint i get that "?? thes qns kept on echoing up n down for a long time.. d story goes back a long way.. 1997 - i was in class 8... first day of class 8th i guess, v had a new admission in our class that..Aj.. a very smart guy(atleast by looks)... v slowly went n talked to him, n' b4 long, he was 1 among good friend of us.. i still have very good memories of many interesting stuff v used to do together, he was a very friendly guy n definitely an above average guy in class(if not the topper)... his best quality was he used to very friendly with all .. no gang or nythin,.. xtremly polite with almost all in clas.. all ppl had nly good to tell abt him...!! he very soon bcam 1 of d most popular guys in school... now years went on.. we were in same class till 10th.. now 10th results come n all of a sudden a big shock.. it seems he flunked in a Maths in 10th boards.. omg!! tht was big shock..cos tht was never expected of him... n thts it, v never heard of him again.. all v knew was that he wrote boards again n then went into some odr school n joined.. never really met him ever again... v used to think abt him many a times.. but no1 had ne clue.. he had also changed phone no n all.. so not really any way to contact him..
then years ltr.. i think in sumtime in 2004.. whle i was doin my b.tech.. 1 day i incidently met him in a bus stop.. i was really happy to see him, bt sumhow i dint feel any such excitement in his face.. he was very uneasy.. i askd him abt hs whereabts.. n his reply was jst this n that.. quite disturbed abt how he behaved... n unable 2 knw d reason y he treated like that.. i left.. then again aftr years.. sumtime in 2008.. i again met him.. i was actually tryin to figure out a place wher i cud get black filming done on my helmet.. i went to some local workshop, n to my biggest shock, i saw him in dat workshop, wid a welding tool.. i really dint expect that.. i felt so sad for him.. but this time he was very happy to see me, he came n talked to me... i jst asked him.. wat hpnd ? he jst replied.. "no worries bro, i am doin very good, so good to see u aftr such a long time".. he gave me his no n said to be in touch.. n i left back...........................
wat to say... again i was feeling the uneasiness, but neverthless the happiness whch he showed made me feel good........... this s wat ppl mte call destiny. .... or fate......!! Very strange isnt it.??
P.S. - Next time b4 u tell. "Oh God, Why Me?" Think again.................

Oh My God, an amazing n rockin hindi movie since a long time.. felt lik comin out of a rock concert after d movie..!! amazin n touchin story.. i bet on it tat every person who has atleast a bit of rock music n passion for music wud love ROCK ON.!! It speaks abt Living Ur Dream!! yeah, watever happens in life, go n live ur dream. Don care abt wat may/maynt happen.. but livin ur dream is very important. Whats d whole damn point of endin up doin sumthin u hate, n later on regretting of wat decisions u dint take long back, when u had the chance. Life very rarely gives u 2nd chance. d movie says abt a band which failed to make it big, cos of sum small ego problems among them, although the talent n magik(as they call themselves) was in plenty..!! But in real life, things very rarely as in thse movies, u never get a 2nd chance. But i guess all get atleast a good chance, so make use of d chance u get n LIVE UR DREAM.!!
D movie reminded me of many wonderful moments i had wid my friends, when we used to hangout for wonderful jamming sessions.
Ashok... d most amazing guitar player i have seen..
Tommy... mind blowin singer.. he gets d crowd in his hands..
Murali... bass guitarist... plays Nothin else matters in a deadly way
BAR... Killer Drummer..
We guys have had an amazing time, rocking !! but now Tom - is in US working for a sw comp, Murali - doing MBA in New Zealand, BAR - working in Infy, Blore. n Ashok - he is still up with guitars..(happy 4 that). I hope these friends com back sumtime n v shall again have sum rocking time.. its all abt realising wat u wanna do in life.. Just Do it , as simple as that.!!
D movie was also spl, cos it was my 1st movie wid my frns @ IIIT.. a big gang of around 12 of us left d campus around 3. luckily tuesday v have jst 1 class n hence v love to jump on2 d chance.. Thanks to Chandu.. he got e-tickets booked for all of us, :) v had a memorable bus journey, with every1 keeping aside their tension full life @ IIIT aside for atleast few hours.!! PVR @ Forum a nice place 2 watch movie.. we had a nice time. :)
Guys @ IIIT who dared to Rock On!!
Akash, Anenth, Atul, Chandu, Guru, Samarth, Sandeep, Sanket, Shuba, Sunanda, Sushant,Swapnil (in alphabetical order) ... btw v all missed distribution of Assignment-0 grades too.. ;)

Mantra of Life
The movement is in the rhythm,
the desire to seek the elusive something is the song…
a wistful smile is carried in the tune…
of ancient thoughts and questions unanswered from time immemorial…
the lust for life,
the need to find out who and what i am
and my primal emotions are explored
in this ethereal, magical and mystical moment…
there are no answers here,
maybe I don’t need them…
just meanderings…
I found muzik… my mantra,
what’s yours?
the desire to seek the elusive something is the song…
a wistful smile is carried in the tune…
of ancient thoughts and questions unanswered from time immemorial…
the lust for life,
the need to find out who and what i am
and my primal emotions are explored
in this ethereal, magical and mystical moment…
there are no answers here,
maybe I don’t need them…
just meanderings…
I found muzik… my mantra,
what’s yours?

Super Power - America
One of d best technologies v use so damn frequently is YouTube.! - d whole idea n concept was so huge that they even managed to convince s/w giants Google to buy d whole thing for a heavy price.. well wats good abt YouTube.. u effectively get evrythin up there.. n whn it came synch with orkut.. wat more do v need guys..!! well incidently i went thru a youtube video recently whch was abt Barack Obama's visit to CMU(Carnegie Mellon Uty), he was there as part of a discussion abt "Changes that America must make to compete in global economy". i found sum sections of it extremely interesting. thought i will share it wid u all.
Obama: For the last 3 weeks i have been travelling across the country, talking about how we can change our economy so that it works for the American people. And i have also been listening, I have talked to man in Missouri, whose wife works two jobs, because his arthiritis causes 1500 $ a week to treat. I have heard from a student in Minnesota, who is worried that she won't be able to take her final exams cos she is maxed out on her student loans. We can hear lot of such stories, cos although many Americans are working hard, they still can't keep pace. Its time for us to recognise these individual stories connect to a large American story. All of us have a stake in our common prosperity. We are failing to put overselves in a competitive position in global economy. Our country faces challenges to leadership in this young section. Our children will grow up facing competition from their counterparts in Bejing and Bangalore. If we dont change course, there is no doubt that the American dream will be there for my daughters or your sons, as it was there for us. America risks falling behind. If we cant give every child in America the chance of world class education, we will cripple their ability to make a living in a knowledge based economy and watch China and India move ahead in the race for 21st century.
Now thats soothing for any Indian, well you can catch the whole video here.

AJ: yea.. wat r u doin thr.? working studyin?
Amy: working deputaion only working with pump manufacturers
AJ: oh great. .
Amy: company howz ;ife going on there howz ur work
AJ: so till whn ru thrAmy: for one yr till may 09 it was sudden

AJ: so u finding job interesting thr?
Amy: yes i actually am njoying the work and work culture here only in office ok just concerning me people leave you to do your work and no one interferes doing goodareu njoying the studies there?
AJ: Yea.. very much.. !! now is tht i realise d depth of education.. B.Tech was jst mugging up sumthin n throwing out same 4 xams..
Amy: oh yes tahst why i odnt wanna do it for the sake of getting a degree wanna wait till i feel that its more than mugging and throwing up
AJ: :) isnt possible to check out MS from Us.. ?
Amy: as a matter of fact i dont wanna spend so many lakhs of money just for the sake of an MS---rite now thats my philosophy in life becoz i dont wanna be indebted for 5 yrs just for paying it back and staying away in US or anything like that
Amy: its always areal differnt think to study abroad---becoz u learn what actual study and analyisis is all about---the really fantastic unversities -etc etc thats xactly what i think its becoz its difficlt to get thru d IITs n IIMs hat pple mainly go out n study n its usually for making more money than learning technology etc so if i have to do --if at all --i perefer to do from india from a good place dunno abt wht future says
AJ: hmm.. but u knw wat .. indian education system s drastically changing.. i experience a kind of learning methodology here whch i have never seen anywhr in india.. i must say, i am really impressed..
Amy: ya ya---its learning and taking concepts from differnt worlds----its indeed improving see actually india is fully changing cant say fully aleast the top cities are changing n interior parts at a slower rate as always
AJ: yeah lets hope all good thngs arise out of ds change..
Amy: haha you know what the probelm with many of us is that we just think about ourselves and making money by doing just what we can yesterday i had a conference meet with the vice presodent of this company you shud have heard his vision and in what dimension he thinks the way he learns the indian markets and how he can make use of whats available n best in India etc. He was talking about the wheel paddle that we in india use for agriculture (age old method) and he s doing studies on how some changes can be made on it and optimise so that it can be sold in indian markets etc etc, the potential of india n' other countries
AJ: great thoughts trigger even greater actions.. :) very interesting indeed
Amy: it was so inspiring especially when it comes from a person whom you know thats how some of them think here "out of the box" they have resources at their disopsal but even then these resources came after they came up to that position with their thought processees and innovations what i have seen and experienced after this short term here is we dont have people who inspire us (I am not telling greats things can be done only when we get people to look upto ) but still it makes a lot of difference there should be people who make us think bigger the more we get absorbed in such a crowd or enviornment the more we start thinking our brain take sort f a totally differnt dimension and things start happening some people can act only in groups. some are independent
AJ: very true.. that spark has to be ignited from childhood..
Amy: all what most of us do is get together crack jokes etc etc which i rather not discussour world is so smallllllllllllll we think of studying, getting a job, marrying, having kids an d continuing with d life n' bother when some one does love marriage etc etc. all cranky stuffs
AJ: but u knw wat.. there is a steady change in all this.. perhaps v passed thru a stage when wat u said makes sense.. but now things r diff, atleast wid a minority group, who have started thinkin big
Amy: when in reality across d world these are not at all things of any concern
AJ: i incidently went for an entrepreneurship program in IIM yday
Amy: there are lots of them who have stepped out of the box but sometimes many of us dont see them
AJ: i was really amazed to see d kind of ideas, innovations sum ppl came up with
Amy: ya its always there in IIM n all such places ya thats why they reach there
AJ: no.. its not ppl from IIM
Amy: ok
AJ: it was an event whch was open to odr colleges
AJ: IIM was jst d venue n facilitator.. many ppl from normal colleges, normal backgrounds.. they made a mark.. :)
Amy: great
AJ: i strongly believe in entrepreneurship..!! thts perhaps 1 thing whch wil get india above all, wether it be US or China
Amy: true to the word n we need goo dones
Amy: in the smaller place that we work smetimes we have bosses(for instance )who care only for politics n stuffswe need ppl who can think of the fututre an dream
AJ: Good Luck.. u r gonna make a diff.. i gues
Amy: or sometimes just go on dreaming tahts also a prob
AJ: thts how d ignition strts.. :)
Amy: see i just talk a lot these are thoughts bt without fuel it wont run n' without start i am njoying this work becoz i am getting exposed to a lot of things in office
AJ: but think if u had lots of fuel, then u wil need thoughts to get it started.. so since u have thoughts, its easy.. all u need is a bit of fuel.. am i soundin crazy.. ;)
Amy: hhahah no no its perfectly fine since i am of a crazier hahahaha
AJ: :) ha ha
Amy: it wsa a good talk with u :)
AJ: sure. it was really good to talk 2 u too.. :)

Citi Team - Final Mail
CitiTeam Mates,
"Citi Project" might sound scary to many, hectic to many others and toughto almost all. All that's indeed true, but in spite of all this, being part of CitiTeam was real fun. We might have had really difficult times, but we ensured we inevitably always had our "brainstorming tea and lunch breaks" which would bring us back pumped up. J And not to forget Citi Team tour, which was really mind-blowing.
As you all would probably know already, I have decided to pursue my interests outside SunTec. I would like to wish each one of you good luck and a wonderful professional career. "Citi - Go Live" is not away, and don't forget to include me in the celebration for that.
Best Wishes,
Sandeep

I made a small difference
it hpnd around 1 year back on a rainy day evening around 7.30 pm..!! i was back home after a tiring day of work..! alas i made it home jst 2 realise tht i don hav keys to get in. i gav a ring to my roomie, but it went in vain as he was not reachable. only thing perhaps i cud do is wait.. [:)].. wid even d gates locked.. i parked my bike on d road n sat on top of it.. wid a sony ericsson phone n amazing head phones, its not tht diff to sit idle n enjoy sum rockin music..!!
it was nly a matter of time, whn i realised sum furious dog barking.. whch were so loud, tht even my sony ericsson let it interrupt d song i was listenin to.. i stopped d music n went n checked out, wat was happening..?
thr was a vacant plot rt next to my home.. d plot was so peculiarly kept tht it was surronded by foundation walls on all 4 sides.. bt d plot behind tht is bit elevated.. and hence its easy to get into dat plot.. bt diff to get out.. [:)].. so now i see d dog inside d plot tryin to find it very diff to get out.. it went in as part of its adventurous stroll i guess.. but now it was extremely desparate to make it outside.. it kept on tryin to jump.. jump.. n' again.. but no luck.. it slowly strted recognising.. perhaps it wud never get to see d outside world ever again.. now this is not d first time dat d same thing hpnd.. i have seen this same dog, get in2 ds plot n then barking out loud.. cos of its nuisance.. my neighbour wud come out in say 5 mins n get it out sumhow.. jst to stop its barking.. but ds time, he wasnt around.. n hence all his barking was in vain..
well i too wanted him to learn a lesson, how many times he repeat d same mistake.. n i was in position to go n get this stray dog.. who knows.. it mite even give me a bite.. i wasnt gonna tak such a risk.. so i jst continued sitting on my bike.. thts when d hero..saw a glance of me all of a sudden.. it was on d diagonally opposite corner n as soon as it saw me, it made such a fast movement to dat side of plot, near to whch i was standing.. it came 2 d very corner, n started barking violently.. soon d violent nature of bark was gone, n it bcam almst a request.. it was askin me out 4 help.. 4 one moment i looked across to d dog.. n it looked in2 my eyes n pleaded.. it was as if it was telling me.. "This is ur chance to show d humanity in u, ds a chance to grab to show u can make sum diff here., don let it go.. don b so rude.. " i felt a pinch inside me, wat am i doin.. think abt a situation if i was ther, n sum1 who cud so very wel help, bt is ignorant.. i got myself up n went near d wall.. d panting n desparate nature of d dog so much increased.. it ws lik, d dog finally felt there was atleast a small chance dat it wud b able to see d world outside once more.. [:)] d very thought of it wud have made it so happy i gues... now.. i managed all courage i had n went near d wall.. i carried d dog, wid much apprehension on how it mite react.. but i gathered al courage n took it and helped it onto odr portion of wal... it wud have been d happiest moment in its life..!! it wanted to thank me i guess.. n these animals hav so many ways of thankin u.. it mite even embarrass u..[:)] bt its definitely fun too.. d doggy made peculiar sounds n startd takin instant rounds around me.. as if my action was so important to it.. it made atleast 10-15 rounds... during whch i felt so happy from within, it mite have been a very small n insignificant thing .. but it was thankin me for d decision i took.. n then slowly i strayed d dog away.. n aftr sum time, it made its way thru d roads n started on wid its adventourous stroll wid a high self esteem i guess [;)] ..
well.. now d good news is perhaps dat tough time was good enuf for our dearest friend to learn all his lessons.. he makes it at a point to visit my home every single day.. roams around my bike 4 sumtime, jst to show his gratitude.. n best part is.. he never gets in2 d plot.. its forbidden territory.. dats a lesson learnt d hard way.. i too learned a good lesson.. n i made a difference too.. am happy abt it..!!

[:)].. so now i see d dog inside d plot tryin to find it very diff to get out.. it went in as part of its adventurous stroll i guess.. but now it was extremely desparate to make it outside.. it kept on tryin to jump.. jump.. n' again.. but no luck.. it slowly strted recognising.. perhaps it wud never get to see d outside world ever again.. now this is not d first time dat d same thing hpnd.. i have seen this same dog, get in2 ds plot n then barking out loud.. cos of its nuisance.. my neighbour wud come out in say 5 mins n get it out sumhow.. jst to stop its barking.. but ds time, he wasnt around.. n hence all his barking was in vain..
well i too wanted him to learn a lesson, how many times he repeat d same mistake.. n i was in position to go n get this stray dog.. who knows.. it mite even give me a bite.. i wasnt gonna tak such a risk.. so i jst continued sitting on my bike.. thts when d hero..saw a glance of me all of a sudden.. it was on d diagonally opposite corner n as soon as it saw me, it made such a fast movement to dat side of plot, near to whch i was standing.. it came 2 d very corner, n started barking violently.. soon d violent nature of bark was gone, n it bcam almst a request.. it was askin me out 4 help..

Dear Sandeep
I value your participation and the experiences that you shared in the session "I can make a difference". As a facilitator, the real high is in knowing how or if the effort has in any small or big way impacted you in your work, life, relationships, self concept etc.If you would be kind enough to mail me about it, I would consider it to be gratifying. If it has not had any impact, I would humbly respect that as well. So feel free to afford yourselves a full factual expression. The greatest point of expression that we talked in that session throughout would give me the reassurance and better cognition of the path forward.
Awaiting your esteemed reply.
Regards,
Vijay Menon

Hi Vijay,
I would like to thank you for the most effective and most amazing session I ever had in my life till date. I am carrying an ever lasting and very strong impression about all the aspects we discussed>today.
The session started as expected and as always with a bit of hindrance, in the sense you really don't know wats gonna happen next. You are worried/busy with a preoccupied mind which keeps on pestering you about the deadlines and work assignments ought to be finished by eod. Its difficult to get your mind away from all such distractions, and get it into a full swing, where I believe the mind can roam free, and creativity is at its maximum level, I would term such a mental condition as nothin less than a 'EUPHORIA'. But unlike most sessions, the very initial few minutes were more than enough to get me into full swing, get me into a state of EUPHORIA. The rest of the session was mesmirising, I cherish every single thing we discussed today.
It did make me realise the 'YOU' factor. When I was speaking, with each and every word I was realising the potential I had within, the mindset I started speaking in, and the mindset when I finished was entirely different, I was able to feel the 'I' factor. Yes I can definitely make a difference. It may be small, but still I did it. As u correctly quoted, YOU ARE BEST TO YOURSELF, WHEN YOU ARE BEST TO OTHERS. I have decided to be best to others, I will surely try and reduce the problems in the world, the main cause to which is LOST BALANCE. Oh all these are echoing in my mind. I could listen to all my colleagues today, I knew all of them since long time, but never got an insight to their life in this perspective. I will definitely respect them more after today, Iwas so happy to hear how Syama planned for a wonderful treat for herparents on a very special day of their life, I cud feel how happy they would have been, I respect Divya for helping that small little girl out with such a bright future. Hats off to Raji, for going and talking to her teammate, and making him develop a much better professional. I respect all of them, all of them have been very significant in making a difference. Then there are so many people, to whom I havent listened this way, I am sure they also would have done something equally or maybe more for making a difference in somebody's life. I am happy to realise all these things. I walked out a better human being.
And as u rightly pointed out, a thing planned, decided to be done, is half work done. So I decided to create an action item list. I am going to follow these strictly as a starter
1. I will respect all others much much more than I used to do, I don't mean the technical or intellectual intelligence they possess.
2. Will find out time, for going out and enjoying the beautiful nature
Thank you so much Vijay, you have a made a difference in my life
Thanks
